Living Situation

The family lives in the middle of Caledonia Village on a small lot. The three children living with grandmother, belong to two daughters that went to San Pedro Island for work. For unforeknown reasons, the mothers have not returned. Their home is a 15x15 stick house with a thatch roof. The grandmother has one son that still lives in the house and cuts cane. One daughter with husband that have two children living in their own house on the lot as well. One son and wife also have a house on the lot as well.

Their situation is very simple:

· No husband

· Multi-generational family living on same lot

· Garden & corn growing on lot

· The grandchildren currently sleep on the floor

Income

Grandmother does not work

Sons and son in laws work as sugar cane cutters.

· Average pay: about $150(BZD) per week when work is available

· Cane cutting is usually seasonal-about 6 months per year

· Last year there was only 4 months of work

Immediate Needs

When asked what they need most, the family shared:

· Beds for the children

The grandmother shared that anything would be a help for their situation.
